Why So Serious?~ Why So Offended?

Image
I had a discussion with my brother-in-law the other day. It was a mutual observation that individuals in this day and age are so easily offended. We are a society of thin skinned babies. What exactly happened to our ability to let shit roll off our backs? Laugh at ourselves for our differences? Be secure in our own skin? People are even offended of things that don't even apply to them in an effort to be socially considerate. Groups are created with the social conscience of calling out "insensitive" words or behaviors. Blogs are saturated with "What Skinny/Short/Heavy/ People Are Tired of Being Asked", posts. I recently read an article on LinkedIn about how a social media consultant felt when she was told "I don't do social media." She then began to give her observation on what kind of person is not into social media and that saying those words, shows they don't have any respect for her profession. "They could at least fake interest....

Be Yourself

Perception Is Reality. Let's think about that for a moment. We might think we have control of how people perceive us. We talk a certain way or behave a certain way in order to make sure that other's perception of us is what we desire. Some do this subconsciously while others do this deliberately. If not, well... things can get awkward.  I find as I get older I don't seem to stress much about what others think of me. I think the main reason for this is that I am the same person no matter what social circle I engage in. Of course if I am around older relatives or friends that are more conservative I don't drop "F Bombs" left and right but my core personality is still intact. I try to be respectful of others comfort levels but I can confidently say that if the social circles were...

Who, Where, and Why~ Happy Hour On The Grid

Image
Everyone loves Happy Hour! Drink specials, great snacks, and time to decompress with friends. Whether you are a frequent partaker of Happy Hour or just once in awhile, here are a few places that are a must in Midtown Sacramento. Note:  This post isn't a plug and I'm not getting any compensation for the reviews. In fact, they are not even aware I'm writing this! Tee Hee The Red Rabbit Kitchen and Bar   It's a cozy lil place with big foods and drinks. The bartenders are artists. And I mean ARTISTS! I'm not a fan of whiskey but this place has made me a believer. Rich, the bartender, puts together amazingly unique concoctions with basil, balsamic, raspberry puree and bourbon.... lordy! Lost my train of thought for a minute. It isn't just about the drinks, it's everything. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with a little speak easy feel... Great for dinner with that special someone or a quick bite and fabulous drink with a friend after work, hence ...
