The Summer of My Fifteenth Year

Image
My neighbor, Maria, shares my love for books. She had mentioned that a good friend of hers had written a story that most would find hard to discuss. I was intrigued, so she let me borrow her copy. The title itself, The Summer of My Fifteenth Year , gives a little clue to what the story is about. I tend to read several books at one time and couldn't seem to find the time to read this one. I almost took it back to Maria and told her that I would get to it some other time but something  always stopped me. Finally, a couple of Sundays ago, I read the entire book in one sitting –– didn't even get up to fix something to eat or stretch my legs. Geri Spencer Hunter is an amazing story teller. One would have to be in order to write about such a sensitive subject matter. After I was finished I cried a little –– which is new for me cause it typically takes a lot for me to get emotional, especially from reading. When I returned Maria's copy to her, I hugged her and tha...

So, Anyway... by John Cleese

I grew up watching the Flying Circus with my Dad. Some of my fondest memories.  If you are a big fan of anything involving John Cleese, read this book. He takes the reader from his early childhood and through school experiences and the career decisions that lead him to the entertainment industry. When I'd finished expelling the surprisingly large amount of seawater that my body had acquired during the first trip, I tried again, but because I was now cons...

Stephen King's Revival

I love to read. However, I do not make the time to since I feel it is too indulgent and I have other pressing things to attend too. When I do make time, I tend to read several books at time and never seem to get to the end of any of them. Sadly, as an aspiring writer, I need to make time to read more. Finish more. Anyone that is a friend of mine on Goodreads (joined to keep me focused) or anyone that knows me at all - knows I am a huge Stephen King fan. Not the fan that can recite everything he says or writes. I don't even know that much about him other than he likes to play in a band with fellow authors when he is not writing. Still, something draws me to his writings. I own several of his books but have not read all of them. One of my goals this year is to read all that I own before purchasing anymore books by him or anyone else. We will see how that progresses... My other goal is to expand my reading to other authors, which I have done... sort of. So, I just finished Reviv...
