Of course I'm going to pick one of the most iconic Pink Floyd songs. MONEY!! One of the seven deadly sins is greed and what tempts people the most? Money. It's all about money. People lie, cheat, steal, and sometimes kill for the mighty dollar. Nations, corporations, and Bob next door make the majority of their decisions based on money. How to get it, keep it, and get more. Our media and advertising promotes the latest and greatest gadgets, attire, and other status symbols - all that costs... money.

I have to confess that this is the first time I have ever heard this song. Like I said, I'm not expert on the band. I do not own everything they have ever recorded.  I have a feeling that through the course of this blog challenge that I will know a little more about them and will discover gems from the past.  This song was written by all four band members in 1970. From what I understand, it was a daunting experience. Roger Waters had his own way of dealing with the rest of the band and, as we all know, ultimately was no longer part of Pink Floyd. Some say that Pink Floyd is not Pink Floyd without Roger Waters. I disagree. I believe that Pink Floyd evolved in its own way. As we all do.

Wanting free music is not a new thing. I come from the generation of vinyl and cassette tapes. As a teenager, if we wanted free music we had to sit by our boom-boxes on Sunday mornings - listening to Kasey Kasem’s Top 40. With a blank cassette loaded and our fingers placed on those two important buttons, we waited for Kasey to announce our song. Bliss. If we liked songs that were not so mainstream we would borrow our friend’s purchased cassette and copy it. That is of course if we had a coveted dual cassette player. “Stealing” music in the early 80s was a lot of hard work and the music industry did not suffer. My friends and I would still purchase albums and tapes of our favorite performers even if we only liked two songs. We didn't have a choice unless we purchased a single or 45. The point is, we still purchased music along with using loop-holes to acquire certain songs free. Then came Napster and later on, LimeWire. Those were free AND the artists received no compensat...

I normally do not write concert or show reviews but last night was like being in the Twilight Show. Not the sparkly vampire movie but the Rod Serling series. My good friend invites me to see a Dave Matthews tribute band, Big Eyed Fish, at Harlow's last night. It sounded fun. I love Dave Matthews Band and my friend loves them even more. So much that her children bought her VIP tickets to their concert for her birthday. We started our night off having dinner at Centro's - three doors up from Harlow's. The show was due to start at 9:30 pm so we had plenty of time to enjoy a nice meal and a couple cocktails. Dinner was amazing. If you have the opportunity and I think they are seasonal, try their infused Pear and Vanilla tequila. mmmmm mmmm! Once we were done with dinner we head over to the venue. I was going to do a post on Taurus but as I was looking up info on that Zodiac sign I remembered this little number. Not the best song in the world, in fact it is pretty bad. I had a friend who would sing this song to make me laugh. It worked every time! Here's to you Jeremy!
